Dancing With the Stars Weekly Recap
Dancing with the Stars has become so popular that it brings in more than eight million viewers per episode. Http://BallroomDanceSpot.com brings you this special weekly blog to update re-cap the exciting events of the show!
Of the eight couples left, four were chosen to dance the Jitterbug, and the four others were left to dance the waltz.
Jitterbug- Mya and Dimitri scored a total of 24, Mark and Lacey scored a total of 26, Louie and Chelsea scored a total of 24, and Donnie and Kim scored a total of 24. Mark and Lacey went to a Jitterbug club to prep for the dance, and it really paid off accept for a stumble at the end. Between Louie and Chelsea, she watched some footage of snowboarding to see if any of the moves he uses in the sport he’s comfortable with can be used on the dance floor. They end up using a barrel turn as one of the jumps and Judge Carrie Ann loved it. Donnie and Kim had the highest amount of facial expression and energy level for the performance and got good marks for the dance over all. Kelly Osborne came off her ankle sprain last week to dance a fairly strong jitterbug where she appeared to favor her ankle while still turning in a strong performance.
Waltz-Melissa and Mark danced the first waltz of the night and Judge Bruno felt that the upper body posture was lacking for it being the sixth week of competition. Aaron and Karina were fighting to get out of the bottom two where they have been for the last two weeks, and they definitely were able to do that as Len said he felt it was their best dance yet. Michael and Anna survived another week and their waltz was an improvement over the weak starting point. For Derek and Joanna it was his first dance after taking a leave of absence due to illness. They didn’t miss a beat and looked as strong as ever to be a lead contender for this year.
Mambo Competition: In addition to the individual dances, the mambo competition was added where all of the couples take the floor and compete for points. The first couple asked to leave the dance floor gets two points, and each subsequent couple gets an additional point up to ten points that are added to the overall total of the night. Michael and Anna were the first couple to leave the floor with two points added to their total and Derek and Joanna were the last to leave and got a whopping ten points added on to their score.
Elimination: Two couples were eliminated this week by two different methods. The first couple, Melissa and Mark were voted off due to the audience giving them the lowest overall approval rating, and the second couple Louie and Chelsea lost the dance off challenge against Michael and Anna who will stay on to dance another week!
The waltz is a graceful and elegant dance that is a perfect option for a wedding day reception dance.
